About Dr. Edgar Bazan
Rev. Dr. Edgar Bazan is an Elder in the North Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He grew up in Mexico (Monterrey) and moved to Dallas, Texas in 2004 with his wife, Dr. Evelyn Garza to serve in The United Methodist Church as a pastor. Together they have two children: Emiliano (12) and Santiago (8). As a family, they enjoy bike riding, fishing, video games, reading, watching fun movies, and music (listening and playing).
Pastor Edgar has served in associate and senior pastor positions where most of his ministry has been focusing on developing bilingual ministries and church renewal in transitioning urban communities. His previous appointments were at Casa Linda (04-07), Oak Cliff (07-15), Tyler Street (15-19), and Casa Linda (19-20). He also has served the North Texas Conference beyond the local church in various roles.
He is currently serving at the Board of Ordained Ministry, the District Committee on Ordain Ministry, the Center for Church Development, the Congregational Assessment, Response and Transformation (CART), and as an alternate delegate to General and Jurisdictional Conferences. Edgar also teaches Licensing School for Local Pastors and the Course of Study (COSS) at Perkins School of Theology S.M.U., and serves a mentor pastor in the Perkins Center for Preaching Excellence.
Pastor Edgar is a Master of Divinity graduate from Perkins School of Theology S.M.U. and a Doctor of Ministry from Asbury Theological Seminary in Kentucky. He has specialized in researching Church Revitalization and Turnaround Churches.
He has a servant’s heart and deep, genuine faith. Throughout his ministry, pastor Edgar’s passion and goal in life have been to see the church be successful and to contribute in all possible ways to that success and the wellness of people.
